SkinBetter Alto Advanced is a high-tech antioxidant serum.
Actives:
- Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (vitamin C derivative)
- Pyrroloquinoline Quinone Allyl Ester – patented antioxidant molecule
- Superoxide dismutase, ergothioneine, botanical antioxidants
- Niacinamide
- Peptides
- Anti-pollution complex to defend against the adhesion of pollution particles
On application:
A creamy, lightweight, cappuccino-coloured and fragrance-free serum. Very layerable, absorbs quickly and gives a pretty neutral finish. The airless packaging is excellent, dispenses product to the last drop with its satisfying twist pump.
My thoughts:
With expensive products like this one I expect a lot. It’s hard enough to review an antioxidant serum, because they usually work behind the scenes to protect our skin while giving only some subtle instant effects. When it’s a product at such a price point it becomes even harder since the expectations need to be kept reasonable. It delivers on the texturally-sensorial front, with a really great user experience. It’s hydrating, feels like it’s pulling the skin together. Good at soothing the skin, and as a post-shave treatment. There’s some nice tech that works to alleviate the effects of both intrinsic and extrinsic oxidative stress, so if you’re a real antioxidant geek this might be of interest to you. Overall I liked it a lot. All skin types.
For you, if: it’s in your budget and you want a multi-pathway antioxidant serum.
Not for you, if: you have a preferred antioxidant serum and/or this costs more than you’re comfortable spending.
Buy it at a local esthetician/derm clinic.
