Dermomedica Phloretin C Serum 10%

Dermomedica Phloretin C is a multitasking ascorbic acid serum.

Dermomedica Phloretin C is a multitasking ascorbic acid serum.

Actives:

  • ascorbic acid (’pure’ vitamin C)
  • Argireline peptide (well-aging, visual improvement in fine lines)
  • phloretin (antioxidant, tyrosinase inhibitor, anti-blemish), ferulic acid (antioxidant)
  • hyaluronic acid, panthenol
  • 4-buthyl-resorcinol (tyrosinase inhibitor)
  • botanical extracts, ferments (well-aging, soothing)

On application:

Watery serum, easy to apply and quick to absorb without a sticky layer. Fuss-free, fragrance free. Gives an immediately-hydrated finish.

My thoughts:

I totally live for such multitaskers – we have antioxidant, tone-evening and soothing ingredients. Very good fit in every morning routine that can replace a few less complex serums. Currently my fave ascorbic acid serum. It’s also surprisingly stable – ascorbic acid solutions start out clear, and then oxidise turning yellow, orange and brown.

A typical ascorbic acid serum will start oxidising within a month, and when it’s orange you can be sure that a lot of the ascorbic acid has oxidised and is no longer usable. Some serums contain yellow colorants from the get go, which can make spotting oxidation harder, which is… a sly move, and some will include instructions to be kept in the fridge.

Dermomedica Phloretin C is clear (yay!), you don’t have to keep it in the fridge (double yay!) and hasn’t oxidised in the slightest during my 1,5 month use period, with my friends reporting seeing it stay clear well into the 2nd or 3rd month of use. (triple yay!). I think it’s thanks to the self-stabilising antioxidant rich formula, which is very clever. I can feel that I got what I paid for and that’s very important. It’s also effective at giving the skin some glow and calmness + evening skin tone.

For you, if: you need a multitasking, watery serum for your morning skincare routine.

Not for you, if: your skin doesn’t tolerate ascorbic acid because of its low pH (but still, I would try the 15 ml size because formula is queen, and this formula is amazing) or you prefer lotion/oil based vitamin C serums.
