YSL Black Opium Le Parfum is a flanker of the classic Black Opium
Notes:
- Top – pear, cinnamon, green mandarin
- Middle – solar notes, jasmine, orange flower
- Base – coffee, patchouli, vanilla (Madagascar, Bourbon, Planifolia, Tahitian)
My thoughts:
It differs from the classic Black Opium in a few key areas. The main one is a bigger emphasis on vanilla and somehow reducing the sweetness felt on the skin versus the original. The coffee and floral notes have also been balanced – there’s more coffee and less florals. Le Parfum is more inspired by Angel’s Share than the classic BO, and it’s a direction a lot of recent flankers took – but is it a bad one? I like layering it with pistachio, rose and leather scents – it’s even more non-linear then, and I kind of prefer it to the original.
You’ll buy it at many perfume stores.
