La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo+M is an interesting purifying-normalising treatment.

On application:
This is in the middle between a serum and cream. Absorbs like a serum, moisturises like a lightweight gel cream. I would say it would be nice as a cream for oilier skins. I used it between a serum and cream. It has a faint fragrance. Finish is neutral, the product isn’t mattifying or glowy on my skin.
My thoughts:
The star ingredient here is the aforementioned Phylobioma – which is used to modulate skin microbiome, changing the balance of C.acnes phylotypes to inhibit the growth of IA1 phylotype – the one associated with symptoms of acne – without harming the other subtypes. This new version seems more effective than the old Effaclar Duo, and a bit more nourishing (but I’ve tried the OG a good few years ago, so my memories may be hazy). This might not be a good thing for very oily skins, but… for me it is!
You can expect some decrease of PIE, decongesting the skin, and some clarifying action without much exfoliation. This means it’s a good retinoid companion, even in one routine. I like how easy it is to fit in a routine.
For you, if: you have some post-inflammatory erythema, occasional blemishes, your skin needs de-congesting.
Not for you, if: you don’t have congestion/acne-prone skin.
