Theramid A-Retinoate caught me by surprise.
Actives:
- retinal (0,1%), retinal retinoate (0,06%), sodium retinoyl hyaluronate (0,06%)
- betaine, panthenol (soothing)
On application:
Between a serum and cream. Spreadability could be better for a retinoid product, as it doesn’t spread very well compared to the competition. Fragrance free. Can be used as the only product in your PM routine.
My thoughts:
Let’s start with the only thing that I didn’t enjoy – the longevity of my bottle. Unfortunately A-Retinoate was emptied at a mere 1,5 month mark. I’m used to my retinoids taking twice as long to empty. The not-so-spreadable texture makes me use much more product than usual to cover my face and neck.
When it comes to effects – over the course of using it I’ve seen smoother skin and a small decrease in pore visibility compared to my skin on trifarotene. I didn’t see any worsening of my skin. I’d say this effect was really nice and there was no irritation. Exactly what I needed from Medik8’s r-retinoate intense (which wasn’t exactly the best for my face). My patients concur.
For you, if: you’re looking for a smoothing, gentle retinoid product
Not for you, if: you’re looking for a STRONG retinoid or your skin demands more power.
