Is Clinical GenexC is a supercharged ascorbic acid serum.
Actives:
- 20% ascorbic acid (vitamin C)
- fruit acids (botanical extract derived)
- trehalose, proline, plant peptides, plankton extract, ATP, agninine ferulate
- acetyl tyrosine (bronzing agent)
On application:
Watery, colourless serum. After a few seconds on the skin it’s invisible and non-palpable. A couple of drops is enough for an application. Fragrance free, but it smells like pretzels to me (amazing!)
My thoughts:
It’s a similar thing with most expensive ascorbic acid serums I’ve tried – I tend to generally like them. Ascorbic acid is something I use for antioxidant benefits (so I like the addition of some synergic actives) and glowing skin (so I like the addition of botanical derived gentle acids, suitable for daily use), and this formula delivers on these promises. It’s elegant and doesn’t oxidise easily – after 4 weeks of use it was still clear, a 30 ml bottle will last you 2-3 months if you use it more sparingly than I did.
Regarding acetyl tyrosine – it’s theoretically a skip for people with hyperactive tyrosinase (melasma/PIH prone skins). I explain it in my Jan Marini C-esta review.
For you, if: your skin likes ascorbic acid and you’re looking for one with an impressive ingredient profile.
Not for you, if: your skin doesn’t respond well to ascorbic acid
