Royal Fern Phytoactive Cream is a luxe product that falls short of its price tag
Actives:
- botanical extracts
- hyaluronic acid
On application:
The cream is very silky, absorbs quickly, applies beautifully and leaves a non-greasy layer on the skin. It has a gentle floral aroma. The soft touch packaging is nice.
My thoughts:
Let’s start with the positives. I like how moisturising this feels, because the nourishment is there and it lasts a good while. I loved this after exfoliants because it brings comfort to the skin quickly (especially as a treatment with the essence and serum from this line). But… I know of creams that perform similarly and cost a fraction of the price (this is 1085 zl, which is about 300$). While I love the essence from this line, which isn’t wildly expensive by the way, I expect much more from a product at this price point. I want more adjectives to use than ’moisturising’ or ’pleasant to use’. I want fireworks.
And at this price point you can get Chanel, Armani’s Crema Nera, Sisley, Lancome Absolue, Forrled, May Lindstrom… so the competition is there. This doesn’t have the luxurious wow factor, and it doesn’t have the most impressive ingredients. There is a patented liposomal fern extract, but it’s just one ingredient, and I feel a certain way about extracts in general (unless they are very well proven to work, I’m lukewarm, especially with claims about collagen metabolism). If this is in your usual price range – go for it. If you need to save up for it – go for something else.
PS. I’ve found the serum to be very similar – very expensive and ’only’ nice, nowhere near the products I’d compare it to, like Advanced Night Repair or Génifique. So there won’t be a separate review, because it would contain the same talking points.
For you, if: you like a luxury moisturiser.
Not for you, if: you think a 300$ moisturiser is too much
